Amberly

Save

Amberly is an approved master planned community that combines a mixture of land uses, within an environment providing substantial open space. The streets of Amberly actually go somewhere, connecting at every juncture to a residential neighborhood or public space.

Amberly

The master plan for the community of Amberly delineates a new community infrastructure that predicts the locations of building types and amenities inherent to a sustainable community and for the invigoration of public life. Rather than build a typical suburban shopping center with a parking field that dominates the public realm, the planning of Amberly respects the integrity of a village square and defines its edges with urban buildings. The design also adapts well to the realities of modern retail, while creating a pedestrian and human-scaled environment.

The development of two and three story “Main Street” buildings fronting the main thoroughfares defining the village square, reinforces the transition and relation among the community recreation facilities, surrounding residential neighborhoods, and the village center.

Amberly includes a variety of housing types located on approximately 1,080 acres: a 28.12 acre Town of Cary Park site, a 15.36 acre lake, a Town Center, a project recreation site, numerous smaller recreational facilities, both passive and active, and two village commercial areas. These uses are located within an extensive open space system. There are 274 acres of open space in Amberly. The open space system includes a 400 foot linear park system.
