Blenheim Park
Like its namesake, Blenheim Park dominates a commanding site. Located in the Virginia tidewater, the development is situated along the heavily traveled US 64 corridor between Chesapeake and Virginia Beach, Virginia. The overall development is conceptually based on the great country seats found in both Europe and America, with abundant parklands, greenways and a lakefront promenade.
The 470-acre mixed use development will benefit from a proposed interchange between the existing Greenbriar Mall and Indian River interchanges. This will allow Blenheim Park to take advantage of established residential neighborhoods, as well as Regent University and the current Greenbriar retail shopping patterns. Physical and visual access from the proposed City Line Parkway to Blenheim Park is via a lakeside drive called Midtowne Way, the center focal point of which is the formal Village Green and Promenade. The Village Green is the heart of Blenheim Park, with a focus on café style dining, entertainment and community events. A traditional Main Street parallels the lake, offering neighborhood and fashion retail opportunities along with a variety of Main Street residential options. It connects directly into the Blenheim Village neighborhoods, and connects to the existing residential area via the park and parkway system, offering easy access to all that Blenheim Park has to offer. Blenheim Park offers views of, and access to, serene vistas – to the east, the lake; to the south, the proposed regional park.
Retail, restaurant and residential areas are within convenient walking distance to the lake and park amenities. The proposed park is to include a promontory overlook – over one hundred feet high above the lake and village. It also offers meadows, orchards, bike and hiking trails, formal gardens, natural areas, and an amphitheater for outdoor concerts and events.
In Blenheim Park, balance and harmony is achieved between the beauty and repose that nature offers and the activity and sense of community to be found in the time-tested patterns of the traditional neighborhood village.
