Reveille

Save

Located in the heart of an emerging biotech corridor, Reveille is planned to become a benchmark for sustainability—for protection of the natural environment, continuation of rural ways of life, and for creation of cultural and recreational environments that nurture and sustain the human spirit. Connected richly and deeply with the traditions and patterns of life of the Tidewater, yet one clearly focused upon the challenging and opportunistic business propositions of the 21st century.

Establishing and nurturing real and substantive connections among the mind, the body, the spirit and the world we inhabit in, the support of a business model, is central to the planning and development of Reveille.

At a personal level, most people will find the offerings and attributes of Reveille very desirable. Which is precisely the point in the world’s new business environment. Employee motivation, loyalty, and productivity is dependent as much upon the alignment of the employee with the broader cultural focus and offerings of the company as is a paycheck. This reality is particularly true for the Milleneals as they make their impact in the New Knowledge Economy. It is why the larger technology companies go out of their way to provide gourmet dining environments, in-house day care, gyms and personal enrichment programs. Which, from a business perspective, is fine if they have thousands of employees in one spot, and the cash flow to support it. If this is not your
business model, you are at a decided disadvantage in this amenity-rich world.

The good news is that the “company” model is rapidly becoming “old think.” Being locked inside four walls—no matter how supportive the company may be—is a poor substitute for a “real” world. In a real world: one engages the natural world in both passive and active ways; a life that engages people outside of their own specific world of work is readily available and accessible—a particularly important attribute if one is single and interested in establishing personal relationships; a range of choices—not a “one size fits all” approach—in meeting ones daily needs is conveniently provided; the individual is constantly challenged to grow—intellectually and spiritually—as a result of a host of educational and cultural experiences that are available. One may say: “This sounds like the life of a city.” Precisely. Or, more so, a carefully planned and managed proposition, as Reveille can become.
